A Collaborative of Universities and Non-Profits
From navigating finances to construction and training, we’re building solutions to overcome barriers to the rapid rollout of equitable drinking water solutions for small communities.
What is VersaWater?
VersaWater is a university and non-profit based collaborative, supported by the U.S. National Science Foundation’s Technology, Innovation, and Partnerships Directorate. We work to make the best technology accessible to the most in-need small water systems nationwide, with an initial focus on Puerto Rico and New York; where our roots are deepest and the need is high.
Our Approach
We support communities every step of the way to delivering clean water. Here’s how:
Partner:
Our team members put trust building first, and we work alongside communities to understand their needs from day one.
Assess:
We help communities assess their water treatment needs and understand available technologies.
Implement:
We deliver the necessary wraparound services to implement these systems, including: assistance navigating grants and regulatory requirements; and support for engineering, procurement, and construction oversight.
Sustain:
We provide hands-on operator and financial management training to equip communities with the skills they need to sustain their systems long term with local control.
Tech built for small systems, no matter the weather
We support the implementation of small-scale water treatment technology, which is built on 20 years of research by our partners at AguaClara Reach, and offers an affordable, gravity-powered, no-electricity-needed water treatment system that comes prefabricated to cut cost
