Our Marquee Tech - The PF70

Introducing the PF70

Designed for small systems and built on 20 years of research, the AguaClara PF70 is a pre-fabricated water treatment technology offering an affordable, gravity-powered, no-electricity-needed water treatment system featuring flow tracking chemical dosing, self-cleaning clarifier with a floc filter for improved particle removal, and a stacked rapid sand filter. Despite its small size, it can process up to 18,000 gallons of water per day. Visit one of our two demo plants in Las Marias, PR or Ithaca, NY.

Drinking Water That Meets EPA Standards

The PF70 effectively treats high turbidity surface water to meet EPA drinking water standards (<0.3 NTU turbidity and <1 E coli/100 mL)  using advanced chemical dosing, integrated flocculation and clarification, and a unique filtration system. Fully gravity-driven, the PF250 requires no electricity to produce 18,000 gallons* of clean water per day.

How it Works

The PF70 features innovative designs that transform conventional water treatment processes into a compact unit powered entirely by gravity.

The chemical dosing system uses hydraulic floats and a simple slider system to dispense the perfect amount of coagulant and chlorine for the incoming water flow rate. All components are visible and accessible to operators so they can easily measure flow, adjust doses, and make repairs.

The high-rate flocculator and clarifier are constructed with a unique geometry that arranges the baffles and plate settlers for maximum particle removal in a condensed space. The system is intentionally designed to be self-cleaning, have no moving parts, and operate efficiently with a low residence time.

The stacked rapid sand (StaRS) filter avoids the large space requirement of traditional sand filters by stacking sand layers vertically. The physical principles of pressure and siphoning are utilized for a distinctive backwash system that conserves water and eliminates the need for energy-intensive pumps.
